Sanfu PC Game 2023 review:
SANFU is a local Chinese mystery and drama puzzle game. In the year 2000, an old advertisement inexplicably popped up on the TV screen of the news channel of Shan City, and the spokesman of the advertisement was the Three-eyed Prodigy, a deceased teenager with supernormal capabilities. There are rumors that the deceased spirit of the Three-Eyed Prodigy has hijacked the TV signal. The Investigation Bureau is ordered to investigate. As the investigation deepens, a criminal gang hiding in the dark gradually surfaces.
This is a simple and absurd story about how a criminal gang step by step puts a teenager on the altar. It is another intricate story of confused and clueless people, people with strong beliefs, ignorant and fanatical people, and people standing in the wind – a microcosm of the times.
Pros of Sanfu:
- Players can take on two roles, flowing through different eras and perspectives, experiencing a glittering past and a menacing present.
- At the same time they are not the protagonists of the whole story, most of the characters in the story are important, which is more like a group drama of the times. Drawing inspiration from last century’s propaganda posters, either eerie and grotesque or colorful, this is a nostalgic visual journey.
- With a unique color palette and detail-filled posters, it sets a rather dated atmosphere. The hazy texture adds an air of mystery, with small store signs, lush plants, undulating steps and staggered buildings, building a fictional but mysterious mountain town close to us.
- The puzzles are tightly integrated with the plot, making the experience more interesting. The dual protagonist mode expands the puzzle solving possibilities and adds some interest to this story.
