This is a 2D game set in space that combines trading and combat elements. It draws inspiration from the classic Escape Velocity series.

In the game, you start with a humble shuttle, cargo ship, or fighter, and gradually progress to commanding a highly upgraded flagship or even a massive fleet of warships or freighters. You can earn money through various activities such as transporting passengers or cargo, protecting convoys, hunting bounties, or capturing enemy ships. While there is a main story line that takes approximately 8-16 hours to complete, you can also choose to simply explore the vast galaxy and engage in thrilling battles with pirates.
The game features a rich universe with hundreds of star systems, planets, and diverse alien species, each with their own unique technologies. You have a wide selection of over fifty ships and numerous ship upgrades to choose from. Additionally, Endless Sky offers a plugin system that enables players to create new ships, weapons, and missions using a text editor and paint program.
The galaxy editor further allows you to expand the game by adding new star systems and planets. Endless Sky is freely available as an open-source game, compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. As time goes on, the game universe will continue to grow as contributors introduce new missions, story lines, alien species, exploration locations, sound effects, and artwork.
