The gameplay loop is fun and intuitive, and never feels grindy. The music, SFX, pixel art, and overall style are dark, brooding, and atmospheric. The achievements are also completely reasonable and can be earned over the course of natural gameplay.

Turns out cleansing and converting sinful cultists to worship you is incredibly fun. Idle Chapel is the first incremental game where the story feels genuinely engaging. Playing feels like taking on the role of a god cleaning up Earth’s muck. The gameplay itself is satisfying, creating a steady sense of growing power. It isn’t flashy or constantly chasing the ADHD-style dopamine hits that many incremental games rely on, but it remains consistently enjoyable. Upgrades feel meaningful, and performing penance (prestige) is rewarding as well.
