Dimhaven – The Lost Source is the new project from the developers of Quern. It’s an immersive, narrative-driven adventure.

You will take on the role of Emily Ravenstone on a mission to find your uncle on the strange island. Are you ready for an adventure? Challenges, exploration, and puzzles in a narrative-driven experience, pick up your camera and test your wits in this first-person mystery by the team behind Quern! Dimhaven – The Lost Source is a fantastic puzzle game. Intriguing and immersive. Beautiful soundtrack, stylish pixel-art (yet somehow hi-def) visuals, and truly high-quality voice acting and writing. The vibe and atmosphere are captivating, creating a strong desire to keep playing and uncover just what the hell is going on. The puzzles are clever and deliver that satisfying “eureka” lightbulb moment.
The hint system is well designed because it doesn’t completely spoil the puzzles, though tackling them without hints first is highly recommended. Later in Dimhaven – The Lost Source, several particularly ingenious puzzles stand out, delivering genuine moments of excitement and joy when solved without hints or outside assistance. An excellent modern update of the Myst formula, pushing beyond the homage of Quern into something new and exciting. Challenging puzzles, tactile environments, and a great photo mechanic create a deeply immersive experience.
The world feels richly lived-in and fully realized, supported by a story that consistently drives the adventure forward. The atmosphere is fantastic, enhanced by a beautiful blend of 3D models and pixel textures. Only an hour in and the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous yet again, puzzles are great, starting with a slightly tougher than usual first area for most of these games, interesting plot and great unique setting.
Lots of amazing quality of life features worked into the world so that you don’t have to bring a notebook, the player character in Dimhaven – The Lost Source did already did that. There are definitely some difficult puzzles and sections where it may take a while to figure out what to do next, but that’s to be expected with this type of game and isn’t a criticism. One of the things the developers did particularly well in both this game and Quern is ensuring that each puzzle feels unique. While some puzzles may have multiple layers, the same puzzle is never repeated in different locations.
