This is a gem for JRPG lovers. Developers are always in contact and it’s clear they love doing this. Divided Reigns is a product of passion and hard work, which can clearly be seen in this game. It is a well-crafted JRPG with an excellent story that covers many dark themes, as well as a very well-designed battle system. It brings you all the nostalgia of RPGs from your childhood with all the convenience of a modern RPG.
The combat system is rather unique for a turn-based JRPG. There are multiple types of basic attacks, each with varying effects on different monster groups. There are 9 elements, each with varying effectiveness with each other. Each character has a good skill set, and any character you use will certainly pull their weight in your party (you get to use a maximum of four in battle at a time, but don’t worry- party members not in battle receive full EXP!).
The game provides difficulty options. Although we have only played on easy, we can say that it is very well balanced on that difficulty. Bosses can still provide some of a challenge, however, you won’t need to grind. The game also has a good encounter rate, you can walk a decent amount of steps before you get an encounter.
